BOC Celebrate Anniversary of Agents of Fortune

In honor of the 40th anniversary of their 1976's musical masterpiece Agents of Fortune, Blue Oyster Cult will be performing the album Live in its entirety in NYC at BB Kings on Apr. 7th and again in L.A. at the Saban Theater on Sunday Apr. 17th.

This was the album that unleashed the iconic "Don't Fear The Reaper" out into the world. But for me, personally, the entire album shines -- from the profound "ETI (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)" to the chilling "Morning Final", this is one of my forever favorite band's most iconic album (their Tyranny and Mutation and Secret Treaties close on its heels -- I listen to these three albums at LEAST once every few days - no matter how many other albums are in my review stack or heavy rotation stack vying for attention). Yes, they've had a multitude of brilliant albums, but those three are the Holy Trinity as far as I'm concerned.

Check out "Reaper"

The current BOC line up is: founding members Eric Bloom and Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (both vocalists/guitarists, and Eric also does keys. And I swear Buck was born with a guitar in his hands!) along with Richie Castellano (guitars and keys), Kasim Sultan (bass), and Jules Radino (drums). The original album featured the late (and extremely missed) Allen Lanier, along with the backbeats of bassist and drummer respectively team of Joseph and Albert Bouchard, not to mention a guest appearance by Patti Smith in "The Revenge of Vera Gemini". (How cool would it be if she made a guest appearance at either of the shows?!)

I seriously hope BOC are filming at least one of these shows for those of us who can't commute to either -- I'd love to have that DVD/Blu Ray in my hot little hands! For those of you anywhere near either show - BE THERE! If that's not possible for those of us not in those areas, at least we can show solidarity and play the album on those nights!
