The Legendary Pink Dots: The French Collection
Release Date: 2010
Label: Beta-lactam Ring Records

Although officially released last year, this live Legendary Pink Dots release was made from tapes of a three-day residency by the LPD in the early 1990’s when they performed with a full band in Paris.

The first thing I notice upon receiving my copy is the fantastic artwork on the glossy Digipak. Beta-lactam Ring has built a distinguished reputation on their packaging, and when you receive your copy you will see why! One small drawback to the packaging was that I didn't notice it was a two-disk set until after I had played the second disk first. Being an avid fan, this didn't deter me much from enjoying the experience. Either way, it is two timeless hours of captured excellence.

If you are not a die-hard LPD fan, should you skip this release? The answer is a solid NO! The music selections are mainly from the album 9 Lives To Wonder, but with many past classics included… often performed with a twist. Not every band gets invited to play three nights in Paris; and fewer still capture and condense the moment for consumption by those of us who weren't in Paris in the early 1990's.

Copies will go fast, but you can secure yours via Beta-lactam Ring direct, or at amazon.com. And remember, "Sing While Ye May!"

Bonjour!
