Gehennah - Too Loud To Live, Too Drunk To Die

Metal Blade Records

Just shy of two decades in the making, Sweden's Gehennah are back with their fourth album (but first for their new label, Metal Blade Records): "Too Loud To Live, Too Drunk To Die" - their first full-length since 1997's "Decibel Rebel".

Named after the biblical reference to Hell, this album totally raises Hell in this anthem-driven, testosterone-laced celebration. Recorded at Studio Cobra in Stockholm, Sweden, this album celebrates the band's roots, heavily influenced by Venom, Bathory, and Motorhead. Especially the latter. I'm sure Lemmy's spirit is giving this album both Thumbs Up from the Other Side!

Gehennah are: vocalist Mr. Violence, guitarist Rob Stringburner, drummer Hellcop, and bassist Charley Knuckleduster. Trust me - you don't want to meet these guys in a dark alley! Their total swagger is just begging for a fight.

The catchy, down and dirty "In Your Face" starts things off in a no-nonsense way. Appropriately setting the tone for the rest of the album. I love the guitars in the pulverizing "Life Metal Must Die". The title track "Too Loud To Live, Too Drunk To Drive" is totally proud of that fact - it's pulverizing! I love the backbeat in "Scumbag", virulent vengeance! "Gehennah Will Destroy Your Life" is pure annihilation!

"Letís Fall Off The Wagon" is a pure barroom brawl, very reminiscent of Motorhead! "'Cause We're A Street Metal Band" is nothing short of wanton destruction. The instigating "Tonight We Fight" is just looking for trouble. "When All Else Fails" is apocalyptic destruction.

The lawless "Low On Cash, High On Speed" is totally out of control. The cocky "We Stole Your Song" is defiantly holding up the middle finger in defiance. I love the bass in the wicked "Unholy & Unpleasant"! The anthemic "All Of The Decadence, None Of The Success" pretty much sums up the whole of the Metal Music industry.

The Crowgrrl is loving this album! It's a pure adrenaline rush! Highly recommended!
